Sharpen your runtimes and polish your properties, folks.
No, NSBBQ doesn't have the cachet or international glamour associated with other Mac/iOS developer events. A boggy field in Dorset is no match for London, New York, San Francisco, nor even *gasp* Amsterdam in terms of sheer vibrance, houte couture and pip-dee-pip, developer intensity and intellect. No.
But, avoid if you can the piles of cow shit and the real gems of NSBBQ are easily found. I shouldn't enumerate for fear of leaving anyone out but throwing caution to the wind, here is a sampling:
@dannygreg ruining a gazillion £ guitar as steady rain echoes off the Brazilian rosewood that he polished just hours before;
@macdevnet crying with pain after sampling just that tiny bit too much chili sauce;
@ikenndac delighting all with photography at the most inappropriate moments and tent construction skills (practical, reverse origami)
@iamleeg insatiable appetite for tiny potato cubes fried in oil;
@danielctull's inexplicable driving mishaps;
@chwalters spouting off after 8 pints about the inadequacies and failings of Twitter, and himself, natch
And there were oh-so-many more. You get a sense of the delights in store for you at NSBBQ 2011.
Each year (in our long history), our camping is accompanied by a "side trip." We started with Bletchley Park and went downhil fast, last year was go-karting. This year, the activity seems to be leaning towards NAKED SEGWAY JOUSTING in a FOREST. This activity is being championed by @danielctull, @mikeabdullah, and no doubt has the support of many others. I mean, who wouldn't be interested in NAKED SEGWAY JOUSTING (in a FOREST!)
The DEN of NAKED SEGWAYs is somewhere near Bracknell. There are some rumblings about camping further away, but this hasn't yet been set in stone, so any thoughts on the camping venue are most welcome. Do speak up, won't you.
Of course, our planning is just as bad as last year. Therefore I wonder if July 14/15 suits anybody, maybe, tentative as it is...
Cue obligatory wrap-up and final cheer for how fab NSBBQ has become, will and might be.
